Stone Roses
Does anyone remember this Stone Roses website?

Back in about 1998-99, there was a fantastic Stone Roses parody Web site that was a long, involved story about how Ian thought John was really a girl and the ensuing hilariousness. Now, unfortunately, I have owned several computers since then and do not have the link to that anymore. My hope is that someone else remembers this and can point a gal in the right direction. It had several hilarious turns of phrase that I would much like to see again.

Meshing simple, exceedingly catchy hooks with rhythmic beats, The Stones Roses led the UK’s so-called “Madchester” scene straight into the U.S. with their eponymous debut. The Stone Roses achieved one of the most successful fusions of classic pop songwriting and acid house culture, and managed to snare fans from both genres. By the end of 1989, their debut had landed on many a top-ten list for tha…

Stone Roses

Some albums really can change the world, and in 1989 this was one of them. The psychedlic dance extravaganza that was The Stone Roses ushered in the era of Madchester, baggy trousers, Kangols, and the Hacienda. From the magnificent protracted opening of “I Wanna Be Adored” (where, for once, the arrogance wasn’t overdone) to the dying seconds of “Fools Gold,” every note was perfect. Jon Squire’s gu…

Go Fish won acclaim in its initial release in 1994, probably because of its irreverence in gazing at the lives of a group of young lesbians in Chicago. The film was directed and cowritten by Rose Troche, who went on to make Bedrooms and Hallways with the help of Guinevere Turner, her then-partner and star of this film. (Turner later appeared in several films and collaborated with director Mary…
